Please join us for our next AIChE meeting on February 20, 2007 at Indiana University Emerging Technologies Center (iuetc.iu.edu), which is located along the canal at 351 West Tenth Street, Indianapolis. We will meet at 4:00 p.m. for a tour of the facilities. The IUETC functions as a business incubator and accelerator for life sciences, biotechnology and bioinformatics companies. Tenant companies are listed on the website. This is a great opportunity to engage your entrepreneur spirit and see what kind of jobs that are being created in the state. The Boston Section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (Ichthyologists of Boston www.aiche-boston.org) will be hosting the 2007 Leadership Development Conference (LDC) on June 8 – June 10. This event is for AIChE officers from local section to attend. It provides excellent networking opportunity with AIChE Board members, national office staff, and local section officers as well as helping local sections to develop new program opportunities. We are looking for local companies who can help sponsor to send at least one officer from the Indianapolis Section. Sponsorships will be recognized at the meeting. ·          The Society for Biological Engineering (SBE) - SBE's 1st Conference on Accelerating Biopharmaceutical Development, March 19-22, 2007, Loews Coronado Bay Resort in Coronado Island, California

As the underlying technology for making antibodies, therapeutic proteins, and vaccines matures, speed and efficiency become more important.  This conference will focus on recent developments (particularly new, "disruptive" technologies) that will be key to accelerating the pace and productivity of biopharmaceutical development.  If you are working on the development and manufacture of biopharmaceuticals such as antibodies, vaccines or therapeutic proteins, you should attend to learn how you can improve your productivity.  Highlighting the meeting is keynote speaker Helen Winkle, Director of the Office of Pharmaceutical Science at the FDA's Center for Drug Evaluation and Research.

Science and Engineering Presentations:
 
Scientech meetings are held nearly every Monday at the Children’s Museum. They begin at 11:30 am with a buffet luncheon ($9.00). Announcements and introductions are at noon, followed by the presentation which continues to 1 pm.
