About Mr. Neibler: Mr. Mike Neibler graduated as a chemical engineer from Ohio State University and has been involved in life science and software companies for the last 20 years. His present position is CEO of Xylogenics, Inc. The company assets include an agreement licensing technology from the Indiana University School of Medicine for genetically engineered yeasts used in the ethanol industry. This is a breakthrough product for biofuel production.
Dinner: A meeting/presentation has been confirmed with Xylogenics, Inc (www.xylogenics.com) on March 22, 2010 at 5:30 p.m. Afterwards, the AIChE group can plan to have dinner at the Historic Buggs Temple Creation Café (http://www.indycanal.com/development/), which is within walking distance of Xylogenics.
RSVP: Please contact Alan Schmidt via aschmidt at idem.in.gov or by phone at (317) 233-5190, if you have any questions.
From the Chairman …
More than 400 people stopped by our table at the Children’s Museum of Indianapolis for the CIS-IEEE National Engineers Children's Day on February 13, 2010. Many children were interested in hearing about the work of chemical engineers. They then matched pictures of an industrial activity in the state with a fun fact. One boy listened intently to hear about the role of synfuels for energy production and was encouraged by his parents and other adults as he went to the next exhibit. Just a little seed in a moment of time can make a difference.
Please join us for this month’s presentation, “Efficient Production of Biofuels from Cellulosic Waste from Novel Yeast Strains”. Afterwards, the group can plan to have sandwiches/dinner at the Historic Buggs Temple Creation Café – see their website at (http://www.indycanal.com/development/), Buggs Temple is within walking distance of Xylogenics for whoever wants to go.
I look forward to visiting with you at Xylogenics and hearing the technology presentation.
Sincerely,
Tom Leas PE
Chairman, Indianapolis Section of American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE)
