From the Chairman …
Last month, members from the local section toured the Heritage Environmental Services, LLC facility in Indianapolis. The Heritage facility is a commercial, RCRA-permitted hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility (TSDF). In no particular order, we observed tanks, containers, pumps, filter presses, scrubbers, bag houses, a cyanide destruction unit, mercury recover operations, and laboratory testing equipment. While outdoors, we also observed numerous airplanes on final approach into nearby Indianapolis International Airport.
Our next section meeting will be a joint meeting with the Purdue Student Chapter on campus in West Lafayette on Thursday April 16 at 6:00 p.m. We will be discussing career opportunities in chemical engineering and job seeking strategies for recent college graduates. If you would like to attend the meeting at Purdue, please let me know so we can plan a carpool from the Indianapolis area. Additional details will be provided in an upcoming meeting announcement.
If you have any questions, or if you have suggestions for plant tours or guest speakers for future meetings, please contact me via e-mail at mike.wertz at heritage-enviro.com or by phone at (317) 486-2778.
