September Meeting – Dinner Meeting and Speaker
Date: Tuesday, September 15, 2009
Schedule:
5:30 PM for Dinner and Networking Meeting followed
by a Speaker
Description: Please plan on joining us for our first meeting of the year. We will enjoy dinner together and hear a humorous speech from Dr. Alan Schmidt on his recent experience with the “Cash for Clunkers” program. Alan has previously given this speech at a toastmaster’s competition and was selected to advance to the next round of competitions. You will not want to miss this presentation. Also, you will have opportunity to meet the Officers and discuss upcoming activities.
Location: The Milano Inn Restaurant (www.milanoinn.com) 231 S. College Avenue, Indianapolis, Indiana
Directions: Milano’s is
a few blocks southeast of the downtown Indianapolis circle. Take South street
to the east and after the East St. Virginia Avenue intersection, turn
north(left)on College Avenue, which is one way north, Milano's is ahead on the
east(right) side. Enter the restaurant at the College Avenue door and we expect
to be at the Front Round table.
Alternative: Take East street south; past Washington St. turn left just behind the Farm Bureau Building onto Louisiana St, continue and turn left onto College Avenue, the Milano Inn is immediately on your right.
RSVP: If you are able to attend, please reply to Tom Leas at
tleas AT idem.in.gov
or (317) 234-4051 so that we can reserve
sufficient space at the restaurant. Please provide your name, company, and telephone
number to be included on a meeting networking list. Last minute decision
attendees are welcome, also.
Price: Please come and enjoy
dinner with us. Family style meals are available. No cost for local members.
From the Chairman …
Thank you for your continued support and interest in AIChE
and the Indianapolis Section. Officers that were elected at our last meeting in
June to serve this year are Tom Leas for Chairman, Alan Schmidt for
Vice-Chairman, and John Elliott for Secretary/Treasurer. Mike Wertz will
become past-Chairman. Other officers include Karl Schnelle as Webmaster
and Kevin Keating as Newsletter Editor. We look forward to a great year
of activities and providing a networking opportunity for local members by
having plant tours, presentations/dinner meetings and social activities.
Typical meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month. Meeting activities
for 2009/2010 are posted on our website at www.indyaiche.org. We hope to see you at
one of the meetings.
Note that this year we’ve dropped the offices of Scholarship Committee, Roster/Membership, Professional Development, Government Relations, Student Chapter Advisor, and Public Relations as listed in the previous year. These offices were removed from the active list and are eligible for re-instatement if our role as a local section changes. Also, the Scientech meeting is held nearly every Monday at noon at the Northside Knights of Columbus just west of Keystone on 71st Street. Click HERE for further details on the location. Anyone may attend a meeting. There is no cost to attend. However, if possible, go to the luncheon buffet for conversation before the meeting. The buffet begins at 11:15am and costs $10.00 (or $1.00 for beverages only), payable at the door
Best regards,
Thomas E. Leas PE
